Reviews & Notes

of the books I've opened in 2023
Written in Red by Anne Bishop
★★★★☆

Library book || $10.99 x 1.05 = $11.54

It took about 3 chapters for me to start enjoying this book and by then I was hooked. The pacing is good, the characters are fun, but some of the world building is so-so. I finished it in 3 days and I put a hold on the next in the series.

Star Trek #13: The Eyes of the Beholders by A. C. Crispin
★★★☆☆

Purchase || $3.99 x 1.05 = $4.19

These books read like an episode and I enjoyed it. They're not re-readable imo but a good way to pass the time, particularly while traveling. I'm adding this series to my to-read to-buy list.

Star Trek #14: Exiles by Howard Weinstein
★★★☆☆

Purchase || $3.99 x 1.05 = $4.19

I picked this up right after finishing book 13 and I enjoyed it a fair bit more. Still not re-readable but I enjoyed and finished both books while on the same 4 day trip. Great plane reading.

Dark Tarot by Christine Feehan

DNF || Library book || $11.99 x 1.05 = $12.59

The writing style isn't for me. I can't pinpoint the exact thing that wouldn't let me get into the book but 100 pages in and I knew I could return it.

Everyone's Getting Married vol 1 - 9 by Izumi Miyazono
★★★☆☆

Library books || ($12.99 x 9) x 1.05 = $122.75

A romance series focused on adults, a bit boring. It avoided a prolonged miscommunication trope. The ending felt a little rushed but drawing it out would have been a worse choice.

I wouldn't read it again but I would recommend it to others looking for a light romance.
